I.L.I.A has obtained MDEQ Permit Number 13-63-01900P which permits necessary repairs to Indian Lake Dam (Dam ID#687). Additionally, permission has been granted to drawdown Indian Lake water elevation 1.9 vertical feet to aid dam inspection/repairs.
NOTICE: We will begin the lake water level drawdown on Saturday, October 26.
- We anticipate the water level reduction rate to be just over 1 inch daily.
- Drawdown will cease once we have reached the maximum 1.9 vertical feet allowed. Approx. 20 days.
- The time for Indian Lake to naturally re-fill to normal levels is unknownas it will largely be determined by weather (rainfall, evaporation rate) and the flow rate of the natural springs into the lake.
- Any improvements made to your shoreline and dock during this period may require a seperate MDEQ permit by the landowner(s).
Please remove/hoist your boats from Indian Lake during this low water period!
You are responsible for your watercraft(s). Please remove them from the water to protect them from potential damage.
- Scope of Work -
Spicer Group and Wobig Construction will be performing the necessary repairs to the dam as outlined in the Spicer Group Proposal. I.L.I.A. has contracted the repairs to bays 2, 3 & 4 of the structure during this period. These are not aesthetic repairs. Rather, the repair work will focus on the downstream side of the structure and bay walls providing additional reinforcement walls, which should prolong the life of the structure and decrease the chance of failure. Deficiencies/failures of the structure were outlined in the last dam inspection (2008) to the MDEQ. The MDEQ has informed us that action be taken to improve the structural integrity of the dam by 2013. These improvements should serve to satisfy the MDEQ and provide Indian Lake residents with many additional years of use.
